East County Schools Earn $5,000.00 from Friends . . .

El Cajon, CA . . . Approximately 300 elementary and middle school kids will exhibit their artwork at the 18th Annual Kids Art Show to take place at Westfield Parkway, May 16th through 18th.  Some 87 district schools have been invited to participate in the event.  Friends of East County Arts, Inc, a philanthropic organization dedicated to raising funds to support the visual and performing arts in the Greater East County of San Diego, will award blue ribbons to the kids displaying their artwork and $5,000.00 to participating schools.

This art show allows children in the East County to express themselves in art and to be able to view their art in a public forum.  The public is invited to visit the display and view the efforts of these young artists.  Admission is free.

Each participating school will select up to six pieces of artwork to be exhibited and submit a letter of intent explaining how they would use any funds they might receive for their art program.  A panel from Friends of East County Arts, Inc. will review the letters of intent and decide on grants to be awarded.

Friends of East County Arts, Inc. is a local non profit organization that has provided more than $480,000.00 in awards, scholarships and grants since it’s beginning in 1984 to individuals, schools and various art organizations throughout the Greater East County of San Diego.

A reception awarding the grants is planned for May 16th at 6pm Westfield Parkway located at 415 Parkway Plaza, El Cajon.  The public is invited to attend the reception.  Admission is free.
